INCLEMENT WEATHER
AND EMERGENCIES

This guidance is recommended for all in-person CI-PNW camps.

CONTACT THE REGISTRAR
In the event of inclement weather conditions and/or other unpredictable situations during the span of CI, all campers (delegates and leaders alike) must assess their own locations and transportation arrangements, making their best travel judgments based on SAFETY. Parents/guardians and chaperones of campers should ensure that they have discussed alternative arrangements with their youth groups in preparation for this December retreat.

CI-PNW will do its best to notify its members of any alerts, changes, and important news updates leading up to the start of CI.

ON DECEMBER 27TH OR THROUGHOUT CI,
IF YOU ARE MAKING ADJUSTMENTS TO YOUR
TRANSPORTATION AND/OR ARRIVAL TIME,
PLEASE BE SURE TO LEAVE A MESSAGE

STEPS TO PREPARE

  1. Please review WSDOT's Winter Driving Tips in preparation for travel. This includes how to check if you have proper traction tires, an explanation of chain requirements, general driving safety tips, and what supplies to carry in your vehicle.

  2. Regardless of set CI programming, each individual camper/family must make the best traveling decisions according to their safety and comfort-level. Generally, we recommend planning to travel during daylight hours for best visibility. Also make sure to monitor ongoing weather and pass conditions and follow all requirements set by the WSDOT.

  3. If your local church is sending a group to CI, be sure to designate a leader for your group to serve as a main contact with our CI Registrar. If possible, try to coordinate traveling together at the same time in a caravan (multiple vehical procession).

  4. In the event that weather and road conditions could impact CI programming for the entire group, you will receive official notification via email as timely as possible. Check your email notifications frequently, especially in preparation for and leading up to travel.
